Making a Difference: Our Social Impact Initiatives This Week
At Northstone, we are passionate about inspiring the next generation and giving back to the communities we work in. This week, we had the privilege of participating in several fantastic initiatives that showcased our commitment to education, career development, and social impact. Here’s a look at what we’ve been up to:
Welcoming A-Level Students to Our Breacla Site
Last week, we had the pleasure of hosting a group of A-Level students from Ripley St Thomas Church of England Academy at our Breacla site for the very first time. Our colleagues, Chris Okey and James Forrington, led an engaging session on pre-construction and the early stages of engineering.
The students gained a valuable firsthand experience of the initial phases of a development project and had the chance to learn directly from industry experts. It was a fantastic opportunity to spark interest in construction and engineering, and we are thrilled to have played a part in their learning journey.
We look forward to welcoming more students in the near future and strengthening our partnership with Louise Whitehouse and the Academy. A big thank you to Chris and James for generously sharing their knowledge and expertise!
Speed Networking at Atherton High School
We were delighted to take part in Atherton High School’s speed networking careers event, where students engaged with professionals from various industries. This unique event allowed them to explore different career paths, ask questions, and gain valuable insights into the working world.
A special thank you to Hannah Jackson, Enterprise Advisor for the school, who dedicated her morning to sharing her career journey and expertise. Her involvement made a significant impact, and we truly appreciate her commitment to guiding and inspiring students.
We look forward to continuing our collaboration with Atherton High School and supporting their efforts in preparing students for successful futures.
Supporting the BELIEVE IN YOUR FUTURE Event
We were honored to support the BELIEVE IN YOUR FUTURE event at The Edge, Wigan, which was opened by Councillor David Molyneux MBE. The event welcomed over 2,000 students and 350 parents from schools and colleges including Deanery, St. John Rigby, St. Mary’s, Winstanley College, and Wigan & Leigh College.
Northstone was delighted to be part of this incredible collaboration between employers, universities, and apprenticeship providers, showcasing the vast opportunities available to young people. It was truly rewarding to engage with students and help shape their future career paths.
A heartfelt thank you to Karen Jefferson for dedicating her time to this event. Together, we are making a real difference in the lives of the next generation!
We are incredibly proud of these initiatives and the impact they have on young minds. By engaging with students, sharing industry insights, and providing hands-on experiences, we hope to inspire future engineers, builders, and professionals.
Stay tuned for more updates as we continue our commitment to community engagement and education!
