Northstone celebrates NHBC award win for Silkash Site Manager

Northstone is pleased to announce that John Rush has received a Quality Award from the National Housing Building Council’s (NHBC) Pride in the Job Awards 2021, celebrating the vital role he has played in creating new homes at our first development.

John is the site manager for Silkash, Northstone’s development in Westhoughton, Bolton, and has been integral in ensuring the smooth-running of the site since he joined the team in November 2019.

John works closely with the wider site team and a strong network of trusted subcontractors, to ensure that the Northstone homes are delivered safely, on time and to exacting construction quality standards, meaning that each home at the Silkash community is perfect for the homebuyer as soon as they walk through the door.

John and the other Quality Award winners will go on to compete for Seal of Excellence and Regional Awards in the autumn, with the national, Supreme Award winners unveiled in January 2022.

Commenting on his recent accolade, John said: “I’m incredibly proud to be recognised by NHBC for this award, especially at Northstone’s first development and after just over two years of operation. This is testament to how Northstone thinks and works differently, empowering everyone involved to work as collaboratively as possible.

“I would like to extend my thanks to the wider team, both on-site and throughout the business, as well as our talented and hardworking subcontractor partners. It’s thanks to the collective strength of the team I have around me that we are able to provide our homebuyers with the highest quality new builds.”

Craig Nutter, Northstone’s Operations Director said: “Our aim with Silkash, and all of our upcoming projects, is to create thriving new communities by building beautifully designed, energy efficient homes and outdoor spaces. Every day we see the passion and attention to detail that John brings to his work, and that’s why so many people have fallen in love with our Silkash community since we launched less than a year ago.”

Since it launched in September 2020, Silkash, which is made up of 150 two, three and four bedroom homes, has already welcomed nearly 100 residents.

Alongside this, Northstone is currently building a new community in Barrowford, Pendle (Keld) and work is due to start on 108 homes and a new woodland area at Garnet Fold in Bolton this summer.

Northstone’s diverse and inclusive communities are suitable for a range of home buyers, from first-time buyers and families, to downsizers and those with affordable housing needs.
