In a night that saw the fusion of homebuilding with the Haçienda and celebrated the positive impact of regional homebuilders in communities; Northstone stole the show, winning a hat-trick of awards at Cowgill’s inaugural North West Homebuilder Awards, including the much coveted ‘Homebuilder of the Year’ award.
The North West Homebuilder Awards, acknowledged the achievements of small to medium sized homebuilders that help to improve communities and meet the country’s growing need for new homes.
Silkash, Northstone’s first neighbourhood in Westhoughton, Bolton and is home to over 100 residents; won ‘Larger Housing Scheme of the Year’ and was named as the winner of the ‘Sustainability Impact’ category.
The judging panel praised Northstone for demonstrating to the judges their “real passion and desire to create a community, with impressive attention to detail throughout the entire design process”. The judging panel also commented that it was clear from Northstone’s submissions and the judge's visit to Silkash, that Northstone had a solid set of values that influenced every aspect.

The judging panel for the awards brought together industry leaders: Stuart Stead - Head of Property & Construction at Cowgills; Alex Maxwell - Associate at Savills; Emma Richman - Director of Operations at Peaks Plains; Gavin Sorby -Managing Director at Buttress; Stephen Chalcraft - Legal Consultant at Bermans; Berit Rose - Senior Land Manager at Anwyl Homes and Carl Austin Behan - LGBT Advisor for Greater Manchester Combined Authority.
The awards were held at The Albert Hall in Manchester and were hosted by TV presenter Jenny Powell. The awards also featured performances from revolutionary genre-bashers - Mr Wilson’s Second Liners as well as legendary Haçienda DJ, Graeme Park. All proceeds made from the evening went to the UK’s children’s charity the NSPCC, the award’s official charity partner.
