Building Futures: Construction Crew Week 2025

Last week marked one of the highlights of our calendar—Construction Crew Week. It’s a moment we look forward to every year, and 2025’s programme was nothing short of exceptional.

Designed to give Wigan residents and young people genuine pathways into construction, this initiative is all about hands-on experience, visible opportunity, and inspiring the next generation of talent. Throughout the week, participants got stuck into site-based activities, gained practical skills, and completed training that prepares them for real employment opportunities.

We worked closely with local schools, colleges, Wigan Council, and our brilliant partners at Applecast to make sure this wasn’t just a feel-good week—it was a stepping stone. A huge thank you to Neil Farnworth and the team at Applecast for their tireless commitment to empowering young people. Their work continues to leave a lasting legacy in our communities.

Even as temperatures soared, our young people showed up each day with energy, drive, and determination. Watching them persevere in the heat with such resilience was a powerful reminder of why this week matters.

Thank you to everyone who made it happen—our contractors, training partners, volunteers, and most of all, the young people who brought it to life. You helped build more than experience—you helped build futures.
