We've secured land interest for new homes in Hazel Grove

We have secured an interest in approximately 8.68 hectares of land to the rear of the Sainsbury’s Retail Store on Mill Street, Hazel Grove in Stockport and is progressing plans to submit a planning application later this year.

The site forms part of a proposed wider housing allocation and represents an important opportunity to bring forward much-needed new homes in the area. Northstone is now undertaking early preparatory work ahead of a full planning application, with a strong focus on engaging local stakeholders as proposals are developed.

As part of this process, we will carry out a public consultation exercise in early 2026which will provide local residents, businesses and elected members with the opportunity to view emerging proposals, ask questions and share their views before any planning application is submitted.

The consultation will play a key role in shaping the final plans for the site, ensuring that the development responds to local priorities and reflects the character of HazelGrove, while contributing positively to the wider housing needs of the borough.

Paul Stanley, Senior Land Manager at Northstone said:

“We are pleased to have secured an interest in this strategically located site at Hazel Grove, which has the potential to deliver high-quality new homes as part of a wider housing allocation.

“At this early stage, it is important to us that we engage openly with the local community and other stakeholders. The forthcoming public consultation will be an opportunity to listen, gather feedback and ensure our proposals are informed by local insight as we move towards a planning application later this year.”

Paul Stanley and Katherine Ball led the transaction on behalf of Northstone to secure the potential development site.

Katherine added:

“This is a buoyant start to the year with this land being yet another site added to our growing portfolio and represents our ongoing commitment and success in acquiring new opportunities for Northstone. Our team is really getting out there in new and existing catchments as we continue to be confident and active in land buying and planning with this site adding to further secured sites we are preparing applications for, totalling around 500 new plots.”

We are committed to delivering well-designed, sustainable homes that are integrated into their surroundings and supported by appropriate infrastructure. Further details about the consultation, including dates and how people can take part, will be shared in due course.
