The well-deserved runners up were Oliver, whose design included solar panels, plastic-free water pipes and insulated walls, and Gracie with her rooftop garden kitted out with sustainable beehives and energy saving LED lights.   Much more than a typical shed, our \*Shed is a unique way to maximise space outside the home. Residents of our larger homes have the option to upgrade the 3m by 2.5m space with heating, electricity and Wi-Fi, so they can convert it into a home office, gym, or creative space to suits their needs.   Richard O’Brien, design director at Northstone, said: “We really enjoyed welcoming the students of Barrowford Primary School to Keld, and seeing their amazing \*Shed suggestions. All of the designs embraced the sustainability, innovation and technology that are at the heart of our homes, but it was Esmae’s creative design with water vapour fire that secured her the top spot.   “Inspiring the next generation and educating them about sustainable living is so important to us and we look forward to working with more schools and young people in Barrowford in the future.”    Karl Cross, assistant head teacher of Barrowford Primary School, said: “Our visit to Keld was fantastic. Our Year 6 class loved hearing about all the different technology in the homes and how they save energy. We all came away feeling inspired and very creative."   *To learn more about the spacious 2,3- and 4-bedrooms homes available at Keld, and to arrange a viewing of one of the show homes, speak to a member of the sales team about availability and call 01282 917 001.*  ## Related Stories [![](https://hub.northstone.co.uk/hs-fs/hubfs/DJI_0208%20WEIRD.jpg?width=352&name=DJI_0208%20WEIRD.jpg)](https://hub.northstone.co.uk/how-much-northstone-home-save-energy-bills-0-0) Sustainability #### [Living in Barrowford: A Guide To Keld](https://hub.northstone.co.uk/how-much-northstone-home-save-energy-bills-0-0) [Read More](https://hub.northstone.co.uk/how-much-northstone-home-save-energy-bills-0-0) [![](https://hub.northstone.co.uk/hs-fs/hubfs/10945_NORTHSTONE_BARROWFORD_V01_FINAL%20%5BLow%20Res%5D.jpg?width=352&name=10945_NORTHSTONE_BARROWFORD_V01_FINAL%20%5BLow%20Res%5D.jpg)](https://hub.northstone.co.uk/introducing-keld-barrowfords-latest-neighbourhood) Developments #### [Introducing Keld, Barrowford’s latest neighbourhood](https://hub.northstone.co.uk/introducing-keld-barrowfords-latest-neighbourhood) [Read More](https://hub.northstone.co.uk/introducing-keld-barrowfords-latest-neighbourhood) [![](https://hub.northstone.co.uk/hs-fs/hubfs/_JA20826-Edit.jpg?width=352&name=_JA20826-Edit.jpg)](https://hub.northstone.co.uk/open-house-weekend-at-keld-barrowford) #### [Open House Weekend at Keld, Barrowford.](https://hub.northstone.co.uk/open-house-weekend-at-keld-barrowford) [Read More](https://hub.northstone.co.uk/open-house-weekend-at-keld-barrowford) Sign up to our newsletter ###### Socials - [Follow us on Facebook Facebook](https://www.facebook.com) - [Follow us on Instagram Instagram](https://www.facebook.com/northstoneuk/) - [Follow us on Twitter Twitter](https://twitter.com/northstoneuk/) - [Follow us on LinkedIn LinkedIn](https://www.linkedin.com/company/northstoneuk/) - [Follow us on Facebook YouTube](https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCy_EBt7OYmDZ2iDopjA9fFQ) ###### Contact Details Venus Building 1 Old Park Lane, TraffordCity, Manchester, M41 7HA info@northstone.co.uk 0161 629 8220 ###### About Northstone - [The New Homes Quality Code](https://northstone.co.uk/the-new-homes-quality-code/) - [Customer Care](https://northstone.co.uk/neighbourhub/) - [Design Approach](https://northstone.co.uk/design-approach/) - [Careers](https://northstone.co.uk/careers/) - [About](https://northstone.co.uk/about/) - [Community and Social Value](https://northstone.co.uk/community-and-social-value/) - [Terms of Use](https://northstone.co.uk/app/uploads/2026/06/Website-Terms-of-Use.pdf) ###### About Northstone Northstone, part of the Peel Group, is an established, award-winning northern placemaker renowned for delivering quality, innovative homes.
